Sinai Peninsula

The Sinai Peninsula is the only part of Egypt that is in Asia. The peninsula is famous for being a tourist attraction because of the beaches and scuba diving as well as Mt. Sinai and St. Catherine´s Monastery. Along the coast you can find many popular destinations like Sharm El Sheikh and Naama Bay.

Along the Red Sea, you´ll find many resort towns and cities that are geared toward tourism like.  The coast has abundant coral reefs thriving with thousands of species.  Scuba diving is one of the most popular sports along the Red Sea.  Along the coast you will also find pristine beaches that stretch for many kilometres.

Towards the interior of the country you will find the famous Mount Sinai.  This is the most popular tourist destination on the Sinai Peninsula.  According to tradition, God gave the Ten Commandments to the prophet Moses.  The site is sacred to followers of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

At the foot of Mount Sinai you will find St. Catherine’s Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The monastery is over 1500 years old and contains priceless collections of manuscripts and other artifacts.
