Description

Escape the streetlights and step into the high-altitude dark skies of Fragkades, Zagori. This curated experience offers an unforgettable, intimate look at the universe under the guidance of top-tier scientists. Your evening begins at 21:00. You will start with a welcome briefing followed by a 30-minute cinematic astronomy documentary screened right on-site. After the film, your expert guides will lead you through a live constellation tour. Finally, peer through a high-end telescope to observe deep-sky objects, planets, the moon and star clusters in spectacular detail. Event Schedule (21:00 – 23:00) Welcome Briefing: Introduction to the night sky and the site. Documentary Screening: A 30-minute cinematic presentation (available in more than 10 languages) Constellation Tour: Identifying the Constellations Greek sky. (The guided tour is available in English and Greek) Telescope Observation: Viewing of celestial objects through a High-End telescope. Meet Your Experts Nicolas Matsopoulos Retired Astronomer of the National Observatory of Athens with over 35 years of service. A true pioneer in Greek astronomical education, he founded the Penteli Visitor Center of NOA. He has authored multiple popular science books, designed pioneering educational programs, and personally introduced over 250,000 visitors to the wonders of the night sky. Theofanis Matsopoulos Professional Science Communicator and an award-winning film director whose immersive planetarium documentaries are screened in over 800 venues globally. He serves as the Audiovisual Ambassador for the US National Science Foundation’s NOIRLab and is a specialized astrophotographer. He also collaborates with European Southern Observatory (ESO) and other global space agencies to bring deep-space imagery to life.
