Description
There is no better way to understand the Bedouin than to cook with them. In this hands-on workshop, deep in the desert of Wadi Rum, you become part of the family kitchen for an afternoon, and leave with a new skill, a full belly, and memories that last. Your Bedouin host welcomes you at the camp and, together, you begin by preparing the zarb: seasoning meat and vegetables and lowering them into a traditional oven dug into the sand, where they will slowly cook underground for a couple of hours. While the zarb works its magic, the real fun begins. You will mix and knead your own dough and bake fresh arbood bread directly in the hot sand and ash, the way the Bedouin have done for centuries. It is simple, tactile and endlessly satisfying, and children love it just as much as adults. Between the baking, your host prepares Bedouin tea and coffee and shares the meaning behind the rituals: how the coffee is poured, offered and accepted, and the stories of desert life passed down through generations. Then comes the moment everyone remembers. As the sun sets and the desert turns gold, you gather to unearth the zarb from the sand, the lid lifted to a cloud of fragrant steam. You sit together around the fire and share the feast you helped create, under a sky that slowly fills with stars. This is a warm, relaxed experience with no pressure and no cooking skills required. It is perfect for families with children, couples looking for something different, solo travelers who want to meet people, and groups of friends. Come hungry, come curious, and leave with a taste of the desert you will never forget. If you would like to make the magic last, you can add an overnight in the desert, either under the open stars or in a private luxury cave bed, and fall asleep where you dined.Includes
