Description
After disembarking at Ashdod port, your professional guide will drive you south through changing landscapes to the Judaean Mountains, then descend to the Dead Sea’s shore, the lowest point on Earth. Pause momentarily for photos at the below-sea-level marker.
The first stop is Masada, a 434-meter-high rock plateau. Take the cable car to the summit, where you will tour the remains of King Herod’s fortress-palace. Your guide explains Masada’s history as a refuge for Herod and later Jewish rebels. Explore mosaics and ruins including a Roman bathhouse, storerooms, guardhouse, and palaces. After the tour, visit the Masada Museum at the base, featuring over 500 artifacts and an informative film.
Next, travel to Ein Bokek, a resort area on the Dead Sea’s shore, where you will have time to swim and relax on the beach. Enjoy a lunch break either at a restaurant near Masada or at the beach. Experience floating in the hypersaline water and applying mineral-rich black Dead Sea mud. The water's high salt concentration prevents sinking and is known for its therapeutic benefits.
Return to Ashdod port via the city of Arad in the late afternoon, ensuring timely arrival before your ship’s departure.
